WORKING OF SERVOMOTOR AND CONTROL

Image
Working of servomotors :                                      Servo motors control position and speed very precisely. Now a potentiometer can sense the mechanical position of the shaft. Hence it couples with the motor shaft through gears. The current position of the shaft is converted into electrical signal by potentiometer, and is compared with the command input signal. In modern servo motors, electronic encoders or sensors sense the position of the shaft . We give command input according to the position of shaft . If the feedback signal differs from the given input, an error signal alerts the user. We amplify this error signal and apply as the input to the motor, hence the motor rotates. And when the shaft reaches to the require position , error signal become zero , and hence the motor stays standstill holding the position. The command input is in form of electrical puls...

VCB WORKING AND PRINCIPLE

Image
VCB WORKING AND  PRINCIPLE A vacuum circuit breaker is a kind of circuit breaker where the arc quenching takes place in vacuum medium. The operation of switching on and closing of current carrying contacts and interrelated arc interruption takes place in a vacuum chamber in the breaker which is called vacuum interrupter. Star Delta Starter

Image
During this self starting period, as torque increases, a large amount of current flows in the rotor. To achieve this the stator draws a large amount of current and by the time the motor reaches its full speed, a large amount of current is drawn and coils get heated up, damaging the motor. Hence there is a need to control the motor starting. One way is to reduce the applied voltage, which in turn reduces the torque. Objectives of Star-Delta Technique Motor Starter are: Reduce high starting current and along these lines forestall motor from overheating Provide over-burden and no-voltage assurance Star Delta Starter: In star delta starting, the motor is connected in STAR mode throughout the starting period. When the motor reached the required speed, the motor is connected in DELTA mode. Components of a Star-Delta Starter: Contactors:   The Star- Delta starter circuit comprises of three contactors: Main, star and delta contactors. The three co...

Fluke Multimeter theory

Image
Fluke Multimeter: The fluke Multimeters are protected against the transient voltage. It is a small portable device used to measure voltage, current and test diodes. The multi meter has multi selectors to select the desired function. The fluke MM automatically ranges to select most measurements. This means the magnitude of the signal does not have to be known or determined to take an accurate reading, it directly moved to the appropriate port for the desired measurement. The fuse is protected to prevent the damage, if connected to wrong port. MUHAMMAD NAEEM ABA ENGINEERING

HISTORY OF PLC PROGRAMMING

Image
HISTORY OF PLC PROGRAMMING History Industrial automation began long before PLCs. In the early to mid 1900s, automation was usually done using complicated electromechanical relay circuits. However, the amount of relays, wires and space needed to create even simple automation was problematic. Thousands of relays could be necessary to automate a simple factory process! And if something in the logical circuit needed to be changed? Oh boy! NOTE: On a basic level, electromechanical relays function by magnetically opening or closing their electrical contacts when the coil of the relay is energized. The are very useful devices and still play a major role in industrial automation (for a more in-depth lesson on electromechanical relays check out this  post ). In 1968 the first programmable logic controller came along to replace complicated relay circuitry in industrial plants. The PLC was designed to be easily programmable by plant eng...

HISTORY OF MEGGER

Image
History of Megger The device is being used since 1889, popularity raised during 1920s since the long back device is same in its uses and purpose of testing, few real improvements appeared in recent years with its design and quality of tester. Now high-quality options are available which are easy to use and quite safe. What is Megger? Insulation resistance IR quality of an electrical system degrades with time, environment condition, i.e., temperature, humidity, moisture and dust particles. It also gets impacted negatively due to the presence of electrical and mechanical stress, so it’s become very necessary to check the IR (Insulation resistance) of equipment at a constant regular interval to avoid any measure fatal or electrical shock. Uses of Megger The device enable us to measure electrical leakage in wire, results are very reliable as we shall be passing electric current through device while we are testing. The equipment basically uses for verifying the el...

Induction Motor A motor with only armortisseur windings is called an induction motor. An  induction motor  is the most modest electrical machine from constructional point of view, in the majority of the cases. Induction motor works on the principle of induction where electro-magnetic field is induced into the rotor when rotating magnetic field of stator cuts the stationary rotor. Induction machines are by far the most common type of motor used in industrial, commercial or residential settings. It is a  three phase AC motor . Its characteristic features are: Simple and rugged construction Low cost and minimum maintenance High dependability and sufficiently high proficiency Needs no additional starting motor and necessity not be synchronized What are the basic parts of an Induction Motor? An induction motor has basically two parts:  Stator and Rotor. Stator: The stator is made up of various stampings with slots to carry three phase w...
